Bring Spring into your Winter Wardrobe

Fashion Spring limbo; that time of year when it’s too warm for a coat, or too cool for  a sundress. The stores are bursting with color, floral prints, nautical stripes and black and white graphic patterns and your closet is filled with wool dresses, sweaters, leather and tall boots. These transitional times will be with us for several weeks so I’m here to help you with some ideas on how to take your winter wardrobe into spring without looking totally out-of-place at the office or running errands.

A great piece to pick up for spring is a navy and white striped tee or top. Easy to layer under a boyfriend jacket or blazer for work, or throw it on with your favorite pair of colored jeans and add a cardigan. Another easy way to incorporate some of your spring essentials into the mix is by using a flirty, ethereal dress and adding an oversized sweater or long cardigan. With all these looks you must remember that your tall boots will now be replaced with ankle boots or booties or the wonderful new power loafer. Shun the heavy opaque tights for a bare leg. Still too chilly for that, then incorporate a light or sheer tight in a softer shade like taupe or grey with your ankle boots.

This time a year is also great for wearing your leather, the key however is to pair it with a softer, pastel shade like sea-foam or lavender. Or you can invest in a leather piece in a softer shade and wear with your darker pieces.  For me, a leather tank top makes perfect sense. Easy to layer or wear alone with skinny jeans, shorts or a great pencil skirt.
